How much does a small business website cost?

The honest answer is that it depends, but that is not useful on its own. So here are real ranges, what changes the number, and where the money is usually wasted.

Realistic ranges

A do-it-yourself site on a template builder runs roughly $150 to $500 a year in subscription and domain costs, plus your own time, which is the part people forget to count.

A professionally built small business site, five to ten pages, typically lands somewhere between $2,500 and $8,000 one time, depending on how much writing, photography, and custom design is involved.

Ongoing hosting, maintenance, and small updates usually run $50 to $250 a month. Ecommerce, booking systems, or custom functionality push the whole thing higher.

What actually changes the price

The single biggest driver is content. Design moves fast when the words and photos exist. Projects stall for months when they do not.

  • How many pages, and whether each one needs original writing
  • Whether usable photos exist or need to be created
  • Booking, ordering, payments, or customer logins
  • Whether the site needs to be built for local search from the start, or retrofitted later
  • How many rounds of revision the process allows

Where the money gets wasted

Paying for a beautiful site nobody can find. Paying for twenty pages when five would convert better. Paying a monthly fee for a site that never changes.

We would rather build you a smaller site that loads fast, says the right thing, and gets found, than a large one you never look at again.

What you should insist on at any price

Whatever you spend, these are non-negotiable.

  • You own the domain and the site files
  • Fast on a phone, since most of your visitors are on one
  • Phone number tappable without scrolling
  • One clear page per service you want to be found for
  • Ability to make simple text changes without paying someone

How we price it

We do not publish package pricing, because every business needs a different subset of the work and quoting a package usually means selling something you do not need.

We look at what you have, tell you honestly what is worth doing, and price only that.
